Most mornings, I wake up energised, dress up, put on makeup and I’m ready to tackle the day ahead of me. However, there are always days where I’m too lazy to get out of bed, let alone put makeup on my face. This no-makeup makeup look is catered for one of those days, where you’re too lazy to put on a ton of makeup but don’t want to look like a zombie (yikes!) Of course, the practicality of this look is not only reason why this look is so popular. Even on runways and advertisements, models and celebrities alike opt for the no-makeup makeup look because it gives a much more natural and radiant glow to their face. This look is much trickier to pull off than you may think so, here’s a guide to nail the No-Makeup Makeup look, featuring Sonia’s video and the products she used.
How to Achieve the No-Makeup Makeup Look
Skincare is key for this look because you would be hardly using any base/foundation products, so you still have to make sure your skin looks fresh and glowy by using a moisturiser or serum to prep your skin. In this video, Sonia is using Innisfree and Etude House products, which are Korean beauty brands popular for their skincare products. I personally have tried some products from Innisfree’s Green Tea range and would really recommend it to people with sensitive skin who need something light for their skin.

2. Go for light coverage by skipping the foundation
For minimal coverage, opt for products that give a lighter coverage like tinted moisturisers or BB creams. Usually, BB creams, especially those in a cushion packaging (as seen below) have a lighter coverage and can be built up, depending on how much coverage you want. If not, you can simply use a tinted moisturiser for a light base. If you want a dewy and glowy base, you can use a shimmer base, like the one Sonia is using. However, if you have an oily face type, don’t forget to use a translucent powder so that your face won’t shine too much during the day.

For concealer, use a minimal amount to spot-conceal any blemishes or redness. For dark circles, use your fingers to dab the products into you skin for a more natural finish.
4.Focus on the eyes and brows to frame your face
Framing your face by drawing in your brows is a must to still look put together. Groom your brow by just drawing in your brows, with light strokes, and setting it with a transparent brow gel. Mascara can make a world of a difference because it instantly opens up your eyes but don’t forget to curl them before you apply mascara!

5. Highlight the high points of your face
Don’t skip the highlighter even if you think it may not give a natural look. In actual fact, using a bit of highlighter to highlight the high points of your face can instantly brighten your face and give you that glowy shine without it being too over-the-top.
- Add colour to your face
To look more bright and alive, add colour to your cheeks and lips. Instead of a powder blush, using a cream blush would give you a more natural flush to your cheeks. You can also use a tint like the one Sonia is using which can be used on the cheeks and the lips. For your lips, dab the lip product on your lips with your fingers instead of applying it directly with the applicator. This smudges out the colour and makes your lip colour more natural.
